New Orleans, LA - July 23, 2010 - Next week, District "B" Councilmember Stacy Head will join Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) at a "Fight the Blight" party in the Freret / Milan neighborhood to release data collected through the NHS 2010 property survey to eradicate neighborhood blight.
Neighbors will be in attendance and will have the opportunity to review maps and graphs of the new data, as well as research information about blighted properties on nearby neighborhood blocks. The NHS property and survey teams will be present to give background information on the property survey, as well as provide a forum for discussion on blight fighting strategies and ideas.
Councilmember Head said, "I, along with all the neighbors of the Freret / Milan area, am very excited about the release of this data. Blight is a significant challenge in many of New Orleans' neighborhoods and citizen involvement is critical when fighting this issue. These residents are dedicated to blight reduction and community action, and their efforts contribute directly to the revitalization of the immediate area and District "B" as a whole."
